Cooperation between China and Denmark on Climate & Energy combines three areas of common interest:
Climate Change
Development Cooperation
Energy & Environment
THE THREE 'BOXES OF COOPERATION'
Denmark has a long-standing commitment to fighting
climate change
. Copenhagen will host the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2009, also called COP15. Here Denmark will work to secure a binding global climate agreement that will apply to the period after 2012.
China's unprecedented economic growth for three decades has led to a rise in living standards. But rising high consumption has also had negative impacts on the local environments and the global climate. China takes the challenges of global warming seriously. A strong cooperation between China and Denmark on the road to Copenhagen 2009 will be crucial for success at the COP15.
At the same time Denmark has increased the
development cooperation
with China for some years. More and more often the question is asked: How do we make high growth, green growth? The China-Denmark development programs focuses on China’s ability to cope with its environmental challenges.
Denmark is one of the leading countries in the world when it comes to
energy and environment
know-how and technologies. There is a demand for new and better technology in the energy sector in China. This offers opportunities for Danish companies with competences and know-how on appliances and technologies, as well as knowledge within sourcing and outsourcing of products and production within the energy and environment sector.
