THE ENTIRE ROYAL DANISH BALLET AT THE EMBASSY
All members of the Royal Danish Ballet – including dancers, ballet students, technicians and managers – as well as Chinese partners and dignitaries joined Ambassador Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen at a reception on Tuesday 5 August.
The Embassy had the particular honour of welcoming the Chinese soloist Yao Wei.
The reception marked the Royal Danish Ballet’s arrival to Beijing. The National Centre for the Performing Arts has invited the Royal Danish Ballet as part of the cultural programme coinciding with the Olympic Games. On 9 and 10 August, the Royal Danish Ballet will stage ballets by the Danish ballet master August Bournonville in one of Beijing’s new architectural marvels, a giant ‘silver egg’ in the heart of the city. At the first performance on 9 August, HRH Crown Prince Frederik and HRH Crown Princess Mary will be among the spectators. Unfortunately, all seats are already sold out.
